Advent Season is a very special time of year that sometimes gets lost in the bright lights of the Christmas season it precedes. It invites us to step away from what can be a frenzied time of parties and shopping to consider how we can remember and honor Christ’s birth in the world as it is today. The first week of Advent is symbolized by HOPE.
In the Bible, HOPE is the confident expectation of what God has promised. The strength of our HOPE rests in His faithfulness.
We boast in the HOPE of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, HOPE. And HOPE does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:2b – 5
Lisa, a recently divorced mother of two beautiful little girls, met our Street Outreach Team in early October. Her life had unraveled after her marriage ended, and Lisa was left with nowhere to go. God, however, had a plan to restore HOPE for Lisa and her family. We helped her apply for a special government funded housing program. After a few weeks and many prayers, Lisa moved into her new apartment and began the process of putting her life back together for herself and her girls.
Your generosity can bring the gift of HOPE to others just like Lisa this Advent Season. Won’t you join us in honoring the coming birth of Christ by serving those He loves? Make a gift today. 🧡
