The heart of the journey

Hope moves
toward people.

Metro Relief serves people experiencing homelessness through mobile outreach and personal connection. We move toward our neighbors, listen to their stories, and help them take practical steps toward stability.

Our Mexico journeys are part of 25 in 5—founder Austin Bonds’ vision to help impact 25 communities worldwide in five years. We share Metro Relief’s outreach model through local partnerships, mentoring, and training leaders to serve their own communities.

Metro Relief has partnered with Hope Sojourns to run and facilitate our Mexico journeys. Together, we bring willing travelers alongside God’s Kitchen in Mexico City to support local ministry and build meaningful relationships.

Listen. Connect. Serve. Grow.

Come ready to participate.

God’s Kitchen serves people experiencing homelessness, displaced families and refugees, and people rebuilding their lives after addiction. Local leaders shape the work. Come ready to listen, learn, and serve with flexibility.

01

Serve practically

Help with Ranch projects chosen by the hosts. City outreach may include preparing and serving meals, sharing supplies, offering hospitality, and supporting the local team’s ongoing ministry. Bring willing hands and useful skills.

02

Build relationships

Listen, encourage, share conversation, and pray when welcomed. Treat each person as a neighbor with gifts, agency, and a story worth hearing. Serve under local direction, respecting each person’s privacy and dignity.

03

Learn and reflect

Learn from local ministry, experience a different culture, and grow in faith. Plan for Scripture-based morning devotionals and evening reflection—time to process the day, ask questions, and carry what you learn into everyday life.

January 9–14 · a working plan

Six days.
One shared purpose.

The current January itinerary combines Metro Relief Bus service, practical Ranch projects, two days of God’s Kitchen outreach, and visits to a historical site and the Rahab Center. Hope Sojourns’ broader destination overview also describes a proposed rehabilitation-center visit and cultural learning; trip leaders will confirm the final visits and their purpose.

Flights, project details, exact times, local conditions, safety, host needs, and team capacity may change the schedule. The current departure itinerary below takes precedence over the destination’s general six-day outline.

Prepare before you go

Plan with confidence.
Ask every question.

Expect pre-trip meetings, Zoom introductions, packing and travel guidance, team expectations, safety preparation, and devotional preparation. Leaders will explain roles, applicable screening, and safeguarding requirements before participation is confirmed.

Understand the estimate

$1,500 per traveler · estimated

The working program anticipates round-trip airfare, food, lodging, scheduled Mexico transportation, partner-directed service, a cultural visit, team preparation, and leadership.

The final written breakdown will identify the exact inclusions and exclusions. Insurance coverage is still to be confirmed; do not assume it is included. Deposits, payment dates, cancellation and refund terms will be provided before you commit.

Allow for personal travel costs

Budget separately for passport costs, U.S. travel to and from the departure airport, parking, U.S. lodging and meals, extra baggage fees, personal purchases, and optional activities, unless the final written terms explicitly include them.

Complete financial transparency

Hope Sojourns records and explains trip payments, charitable donations, partner support, travel costs, and administrative expenses separately. Reasonable planning, operating, and leadership expenses will be explained. Ask how funds are allocated and how unused funds are handled. A trip payment is separate from a charitable donation.
